    Transfer Your Data

Make sure your current Switch is updated to the latest firmware before launch day. Nintendo has confirmed a streamlined data transfer process, but having everything up to date will make the transition smoother. Back up your save data to Nintendo Switch Online cloud saves as an extra precaution.

    Your Library Carries Over

One of the best things about the Switch 2 is full backwards compatibility. Your physical Switch game cards and digital purchases will work on the new hardware, often with performance improvements. That library you’ve built over the past eight years? It’s coming with you.

The new console maintains the hybrid handheld/docked form factor that made the original Switch so successful. From the reveal trailer, we can see a larger screen, redesigned Joy-Con controllers that appear to attach magnetically, and what looks like a significant graphical upgrade.

    Backwards Compatibility

Nintendo has confirmed that the new system will play Nintendo Switch game cards and digital games. This is huge — it means your existing library carries forward, and the new console launches with access to the Switch’s incredible catalog of thousands of games.

The worst-kept secret in gaming — Nintendo’s next console is widely expected to be officially revealed in early 2025. Everything we’ve heard points to a significant hardware upgrade while maintaining the hybrid form factor. Backwards compatibility with the Switch library seems very likely. We’ll have full coverage as soon as there’s news.

    Metroid Prime 4

After being announced in 2017 and restarted from scratch in 2019, Metroid Prime 4 is finally on the horizon. The teaser from last year looked incredible, and the anticipation in the Metroid community is through the roof.

    The Retro Market

With a new console generation potentially shifting attention, we expect some interesting movement in the retro market. Late-era Switch physicals may become more collectible, and the launch of a new system historically drives nostalgia interest in older Nintendo hardware. We’re already seeing increased demand for GameCube and N64 titles.

Whatever 2025 brings, we’ll be here with the products, coverage, and community you’ve come to expect. It’s going to be a great year. Start it off right in our store.

Nintendo Direct February 2024 Roundup: Every Announcement That Matters

Nintendo dropped a packed Direct today and there’s a lot to digest. Here are the biggest announcements and what they mean for Switch owners.

    Metroid Prime 4: Beyond

    paper mario: the origami king

After years of silence and a full development restart, we finally got a proper look at Metroid Prime 4. The trailer showed Samus on a new planet with stunning visuals that push the Switch to its limits. No release date yet, but it’s confirmed for Switch.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Remake

The beloved GameCube RPG is getting a full remake for Switch, releasing May 23rd. The new art style is gorgeous — it keeps the paper aesthetic while adding modern lighting and effects. This is one of the most requested remakes in Nintendo history and it looks like they’re doing it justice.

  • The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom — Everything We Know So Far

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom — Everything We Know So Far

The hype is real, folks. With just weeks to go until the launch of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, we’ve compiled everything we know about what could be the biggest Switch game ever made.

A Direct Sequel to Breath of the Wild

the legend of zelda: breath of the wild

Tears of the Kingdom picks up where Breath of the Wild left off, with Link and Zelda exploring beneath Hyrule Castle. From the trailers, we know the game features vast sky islands above Hyrule, new abilities that let Link manipulate objects in creative ways, and what appears to be a significantly darker narrative than its predecessor.

Nintendo has been characteristically tight-lipped about story details, but the glimpses we’ve seen suggest a game that builds on everything that made BOTW special while adding entirely new dimensions — literally.

    New Abilities

The gameplay trailers have shown off several new abilities including Ultrahand (grab and manipulate objects), Fuse (combine items to create new weapons), Ascend (phase through ceilings), and Recall (reverse the movement of objects). These abilities seem designed to push creative problem-solving even further than the original.

We’ve already got our pre-orders stocked and ready. Check the store to secure your copy!
